  • No added coloring
  • Non-chill filtered; 53% ABV

Kanosuke’s Double Distillery Blended Malt & Grain Whisky is the result of the combined efforts of two brothers wishing to honor their grandfather, Kanosuke Komasa, with a collaborative whisky blend. Distilled at both the Kanosuke Distillery and nearby Hioki Distillery, this blend of malted and unmalted whiskies produced from 100% barley is carefully crafted to accentuate each of its components and rounds out the core range from Kanosuke.

"Unlike typical blends, which combine malt and grain whiskies, this release is made entirely from barley. A lightly peated single malt component from the Kanosuke distillery forms part of the blend, while the nearby Hioki distillery contributes the remaining malted and unmalted barley distillate. Meanwhile, the aging regimen combines new American oak, re-charred rice shochu casks, sherry casks, and ex-bourbon casks. On paper, that's a lot of different components and contributing factors; in the glass, this is a harmonious and expressive whisky that opens with distinct aromas of mocha and chocolate. Brambly fruit and sweet vanilla follow, while the palate is malty and earthy, with a bold, spicy finish."

"From one of Japan's new generation of whisky makers, made at two distilleries—a single malt from Kanosuke and a pot still grain from sister distillery Hioki. It starts with aromas of fresh oak, rich vanilla, honey, orange, and lemon peel, leading to a gooey, flavorful palate of dried apricot, honey, and vanilla. The finish is nicely spiced, with honey, sweet melon, and peach. Superb texture, with depth and richness throughout."
