Ambar Whiskey de Maiz y Cebada

Ambar Whiskey de Maiz y Cebada
  • Blended whiskey produced in Cuicatlán, Oaxaca
  • Fifth-generation Maestro Destilador Alex Krassel
  • A blend of 50% heirloom blue corn and 50% barley whiskeys; all grains locally sourced
  • The corn and barley are naturally fermented in separate wooden tanks made from local pine
  • Each mash is separately distilled twice in an alembic copper pot still
  • Aged for a minimum 3 years in refill American oak barrels
  • Freshly shucked corn, peanut skin, black cherry, licorice root, and dried ginger precede a silky palate of roasted corn, dried husk, cinnamon, raw almond, a touch of barnyard funk
  • No added coloring
  • Non-chill filtered; 40% ABV

Reformulated for approachability, Ambar is a blended Oaxacan whiskey produced from equal parts unmalted heirloom blue corn and unmalted barley whiskeys. The combination yields a nutty and herbal expression with accents of high-toned red fruit and a bit of baking spice, that offers a gateway into the unique flavors and aromas of Milpa’s ancestral Mexican corn whiskeys.
