Welsh Single Malt Whisky 'Icon of Wales: Hiraeth (#8)'
Welsh Single Malt Whisky 'Icon of Wales: Hiraeth (#8)'
- Limited edition single malt Welsh whisky produced by Penderyn Distillery in the foothills of Breacon Beacons, South Wales
- Eighth release in Penderyn’s Icons of Wales series
- First core Penderyn single malt distilled primarily in their new “lantern” pot stills rather than their Faraday pot still
- Finished in ex-bourbon casks; non-age statement
- An elegant, floral nose delivers raisin, toffee apple, and citrus peel; the palate is delicate, showing honeyed fruit, cinnamon, and nutmeg before finishing with vanilla and soft malt
- Non-chill filtered; 46% ABV
Penderyn’s 8th release from their Icons of Wales series is named for the Welsh word Hiraeth. While no direct English translation exists, it refers to a yearning or homesickness for one’s heritage—the perfect name for this transportive whisky which will leave you longing for the foothills of South Wales with each sip.
