"#34 Top 100 Wines of 2023: A smooth red, with cherry, plum and spice flavors shaded by savory underbrush and wild herb accents. Shows iron and tobacco details on the long finish, with fine balance and grip overall. Prugnolo Gentile and Canaiolo. Best from 2024 through 2040. 10,000 cases made, 3,500 cases imported. ‡BS"

"Wild herbs, black cherries and exotic spices create a wildly inviting bouquet as the 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano opens in the glass. This is undeniably silky and elegant on the palate. Fleshy red fruits are neatly framed by bright acids, as balsam and mocha notes form toward the close. The 2019 leaves a gentle staining of fine tannins to linger, along with a sour citrus hint that adds contrast. This is simply a pleasure today but has short-term cellaring potential.- By Eric Guido on October 2022"

"Dark, saturated and showing balanced intensity, the 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo Nero. This wine offers nicely ripened flavors with medium-rich concentration and velvety tannins. It carries more fruit weight than average, with sweet cherry and baked plum backed by medium-bright acidity. This comes from an ample production of 110,000 bottles."

"The nose is toned, astringent and fruity, with notes of cranberry and hibiscus blending with coconut, vanilla and black cherry. The vanilla and black cherry structure the round, full palate, which finishes with a streak of spice. Enotec Imports, Inc. ‡D.C. "

"Mid bricky red. Complex mix of fruit and more savoury notes as well as a touch of spice. Seems very youthful, with a long, spicy, smoothly textured finish. (JH)"

"Darkly alluring, the 2020 Nobile di Montepulciano lifts from the glass with rosemary and sage, complicating dried black cherries and hints of dark chocolate. This is pure elegance, soft and enveloping, flaunting its ripe vintage fruit with a core of zesty acidity that maintains fantastic balance. A coating of fine tannins tugs at the palate with youthful poise, and a tart cranberry concentration fades. This tremendous effort from the warm vintage should not be missed. That said, the production of Cantina Dei's Nobile was down by 50% due to the conditions of the year."

"With 61 hectares of vineyards divided between five separate plots, Dei crafts the estate Vino Nobile from their Ciarliana vineyard. Ten- to 20-year-old vines sit at an average of 300 metres on sandy clay soil. The nose opens leisurely with rose, brushwood, mint and lavender. Equally attractive, the palate shows more oak-led notes but these are polished and harmonise with the red cherry core. Powdery tannins are supple and gracious. A bright, generous, uncomplicated bottling."

"Supple and fluid, this red exudes cherry, loam, iron and eucalyptus flavors. Dusty tannins creep in as this evolves to the finish, where there's a lingering salty taste. Prugnolo Gentile and Canaiolo. Drink now through 2036. 10,000 cases made, 3,000 cases imported."
