Tasting Notes
Crafted from massive agave, harvested at over 25 years of age, Tepeztate grows at high elevation and loves to struggle. It is not uncommon to look up when driving through the Oaxacan mountains to find a huge Tepeztate jutting directly out of a mountain face, or upside down on a boulder. Known in Zapotec as “Du Cual,” a reference to the twisted shape of its leaves, this powerfully aromatic agave delivers bright, green and floral mezcal which belies its long age and low sugar concentration.

"Expect to be blown away by this Tepeztate mezcal. The 25-year-old agave used to make this expression brings depth and character to this bottle. The nose is profoundly pleasant with notes of freeze-dried raspberries, rose water, and wood smoke. The smoke carries into the smooth palate, where it joins the flavors of vibrant tropical fruit, and a nice minerality. This mezcal is beautifully complex and great to sip."
