"A deep red/purple, the 2017 Syrah Rodgers Creek Vineyard includes the classic addition of 12% Viognier and is fresh and spicy with notes of wild lavender, smoked peppercorn, and blackberry coulis. Full-bodied, with good lift, it reveals crunchy plum fruit, ripe tannins, and a gravelly texture. This fantastic red from this hot vintage demonstrates both what these cool sites and what Syrah are capable of. Drink it over the next 10 or so years."

"The 2017 Syrah Rodgers Creek Vineyard is in a fine spot for drinking now and over the next few years. Blue-toned fruit, spice, leather, iron, blood, tobacco, cedar and dried flowers build nicely. A dollop of Viognier and some stems (25%) add aromatic lift along with layers of complexity. Its nice to taste a wine with a good bit of tertiary nuance, but I would not push my luck on aging."

"The 2017 Syrah Rodger's Creek Vineyard, co-fermented with 12% Viognier, has very pretty aromas of blackcurrant streaked with menthol, violet, bitter chocolate and coffee nuances. The full-bodied palate has a concentrated core of mint-laced fruit supported by powdery tannins and bright acidity, and it has a long, nuanced finish. It has the potential to mature gracefully over the next decade."
