"The 2021 Sylvaner R captivates, at first nuanced and understated, yet gains in volume and depth. Cardamom, stone dust and dried flowers complicate depths of crushed apricot and nectarine aromas. It washes across the palate with silky, nearly-oily textures. A stimulating, acidic core perfectly offsets a wave of mineral-tinged stone fruits and sweet spices. The 2021 resonates with salty tension, puckering the cheeks in its youthful state as lemon zest and green apple nuances fade. "The 2021 Alto Adige Valle Isarco Sylvaner R has a reductive initial approach with ripe peach, canned fruit and lots of pear that comes in strong waves at different points. Fruit is selected from 30-year-old vines, and with time in the glass, the wine reveals sweet almond paste, hydrocarbons and ripe pineapple. Some 4,000 bottles were made."
