Soave Classico La Frosca

The historical Froscà cru, planted in 1930, is a 6 hectare vineyard of Garganega planted in calcareous and tuffaceous (volcanic) soils. The fruit goes through a soft pressing and immediate cooling of the must. Alcoholic fermentation and aging on the lees takes place in both stainless steel and oak casks. 1666 cases produced.

"This Soave is a charmer, with aromas of bruised apples and yellow flowers and a touch of caramelized lemon peel that grab the attention quickly. On the palate, tastes dance across the tongue with flavors of McIntosh apple skin, peach and a squeeze of lemon that adds brightness and lift. A salty note emerges, like a whisper of the sea, along with a hint of preserved lemon that lifts the palate even more with each sip. Built to age, its flavors will evolve and deepen over time providing an experience worth the wait. Drink now–2045. — Jeff Porter"

"Exceptional Soave from a producer firmly entrenched in the regional firmament. Perhaps this doesn't quite equal the majestic 2020, yet I have scored it by virtue of the pithy textural detail and salty, thirst-slaking finish. Drinkability in spades. Salted quince, tangerines and Boskoop apples. Long and dangerous. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold."

"The 2021 Soave Classico La Froscà is youthfully coy in the glass, requiring coaxing to release its delicate blend of chamomile, lemon zest and nectarine. This is silky in texture and perfumed throughout, with a tart twist of lime that perfectly offsets its crisp green apple fruit. The 2021 finishes long and staining, leaving a citrusy concentration and mineral crunchiness. There's so much going on here, but the 2021 La Froscà will require cellaring to come fully into focus."

"90-year-old vines on typically volcanic soils. Handled in large format oak, rather than the steel tanks of other properties. This confers a dried straw quality, not dissimilar to the scents of freshly laid tatami mat. Glazed quince, white pepper, jasmine and crystalline ginger, to boot. Wonderful intensity and spread of fruit, with the low sulphur regime playing a trump card of mellifluous drinkability. Drink or hold."
