Reiterpfad:
The name derives from ancient Romans who with their legions and cavalry passed through this area (Reiter = rider; Pfad = path). Reiterpfad is located at the foot of the Haardt in Ruppertsberg. With sandstone and some limestone in the soil, it is one of von Winning’s best premier crus. Dense and long, grilled peach, smoky spiciness: a noble Riesling. Completely fermented in oak and aged on the lees for one year.

"The 2022 Riesling Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad Erste Lage was fermented in Doppelstück_ and Stück with a smaller portion in tonneau and stayed on gross lees until bottling. The oak creaminess and slight nuttiness are apparent from the off, enveloping ripe lemon and gentle stone fruit. The palate plays the lemony card amidst the creaminess and comes across with charm, concentration and bright zestiness at its core. There is substance and length. (Dry)"

"The intensely yellow-colored 2022 Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad Riesling Trocken VDP.Erste Lage exhibits an intense, floral bouquet of super ripe and concentrated Riesling berries along with herbaceous notes. Lush but fine and elegant on the palate, with stunning mineral freshness and fine tannins, this is a rich yet remarkably elegant and balanced wine from Reiterpfad, which can easily give too warm and bold Rieslings due to its warm exposition. The fruits are sourced on heterogeneous yet predominantly sandy soils with sandstone, loess and chalky marls; the latter in particular give von Winning's wines textured and substantial fruit with fine tannins and stimulating salinity. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2024."
