"Deep and ripe, but still so bright, this has stunning aromas of dried pear, bergamot and vermouth. Extraordinary concentration and structure for just 11.5% alcohol. Then comes the very long, compact and stony finish. Built for the ages. Limited production. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2025."

"The 2022 Riesling Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland was harvested in the rocky, steep part of the Rottland, the warmest parcels, close to the river, on grey slate. The note of Amalfi lemon on the nose is immediately pure, if still distant. More air and temperature intensify this notion and add a sense of yeasty creaminess. The palate is fluidly concentrated, compact, salty and stony but smooth. Naked acidity counters this rich fluidity and shines with lemony brightness. A textural element is restrained and subdued but nonetheless present. This is a concentrated, stony, strait-laced classic, already speaking more of stone than fruit. Saltiness echoes. (Bone-dry)"

"This giant of a dry riesling is anything but monumental in scale, much less overbearing. Instead it is a masterpiece of finesse and is old-fashioned in the best sense of that word on the precisely contoured, medium-bodied palate. Very long, super-elegant finish with a wealth of crushed rock minerality. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold."

"From the steep western part of the cru and near the Rhine River, the 2023 Berg Rottland opens clear and subtle on the nevertheless intense and elegant nose that reveals bright fruit aromas intertwined with smoky/flinty as well as lemon notes, weathered rocks, herbs and salts. Very elegant and balanced on the palate, this is a fine and playful, pure and frisky rather than rich and powerful Riesling. One might ask what would have happened if it had been picked earlier or, to me more fair, if the grapes had ripened more slowly. The finish is savory and grippy yet also still a little austere. Currently, it's a rather pure if not ascetic and protestant Berg Rottland. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam 30 cork. Tasted in August 2024."
