"The 2021 Finca San Mart¡n is a varietal Tempranillo from the younger vines. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in 60% American oak barrels and 40% second-use French oak barrels for 16 months, during which time it was racked three times. It's a typical modern red from Rioja Alavesa with the depth and completeness of the year. It's fleshy and fruit driven, ripe without excess at 14.5% alcohol, with very good freshness and balancing acidity, glossy tannins and a gentle mouthfeel. The wine has less impact from the oak and shows more of the vineyard and the zone. It's very good value for money‡and it's the finest vintage to date! 250,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2024."

Exhibiting a garnet color, the aromas showcase vanilla, cedar, sour cherry and cassis, complemented by an herbal layer. Indulgent, rich and fairly structured, the fine tannins contribute to a corset-like mouthfeel."

It's creamy and spicy, with ripe berry fruit, clean and modern, approachable and powerful with 14.5% alcohol, but it also has good freshness and acidity. 180,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2022."

"The 2020 vintage of Finca San Martín Crianza from Bodegas Torre de Oña is a touch less ripe than last year's lovely 2019 version, as this year the wine comes in at an even fourteen percent. The élevage of the wine is done in sixty percent new American oak casks and forty percent used French oak barrels. The wine offers up an expressive, fairly new oaky nose of raspberries, a fine array of Rioja spice tones, cigar wrapper, a lovely base of soil, woodsmoke and spicy new American oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and complex, with the first vestiges of Rioja silkiness on the attack, a lovely core of fruit, fine focus and grip, good balance and a long, fairly tannic finish. This is a lovely wine, which, to my palate, could be even better with a touch less new oak, as this would give the wine a chance to show off its velvety nature all the way through to the finish and not have to grapple with oak tannins. But, that said, it is still quite delicious and a fine value! 2024-2050."
