Ried Steinertal

Steinertal  is an extremely complex location that offers optimal terrain for both Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The situation turns a little to the southwest, so in the evening always gets some heat, which are relativized by air currents from the north accordingly. The ground thickness varies considerably, as does the temperature within the location. The Riesling is rooted in the highest and barren plots and is a reflection of the natural conditions.

"An exceptionally cool and complex expression of the underrated Steinertal site overflowing with wild-berry, herb and fern aromas plus a staggering wet-stone freshness. Sleek and incredibly focused with a primordial energy that takes your breath away. Decades of aging potential but so exciting now. Drink or hold."

"Earthy, stony, savoury, meaty Riesling, churning with acidity and mineral flavours, sparkling but hard. Very impressive, and needs time to lengthen. (TQT)"

"The 2023 Riesling Steinertal Smaragd is picked in one of the highest parcels of this site on orthogneiss. Scentedness and grace are clear and bright, represented by lemon and lemon leaf. The palate is exquisitely bright and presents heightened citrus sensibilities; the purest lemon just soars and sings. The palate is slender, bright and vivid, just not as long as last year. This needs time to unfold all of its undoubted elegance. (Bone-dry)"
