Ried Höhereck
The vineyard is characterized by barren and stony ground, which hardly exists in many places and allows the gneiss to penetrate. The higher corner exposes itself directly to the south, but the solar radiation is cushioned by continuous winds from the northwest. Ideal terroir for Riesling, which is generally a bit creamier here than in the Steinertal valley, but similarly mineral.

"Such complexity on the nose, from white flowers to grapefruit, peaches to aniseed. It's mouthwateringly fresh as well as compact on the medium- to full-bodied palate with a limey, mineral brightness throughout. Try after 2025."

"The 2023 Riesling Höhereck Smaragd is grown in the orthogneiss of this steep yet sheltered site. Herbal intensity joins the citrus. Here, intense lemon balm, totally scented, takes over on the nose. The palate is slender and has a grounding undertone of wet stone, still with a yeasty vibe, but the body is essentially slender, pure, bright and elongated, with brightness and tension. Bravo. The finish is a pure note of tangerine. Just 700 bottles are made of this little treasure. (Bone-dry)"
