Goldloch
With nearly ten acres (4 ha) Schlossgut Diel is by far the largest owner of this legendary steep site. One explanation of the name is that miners searched for gold here in the 17th century. Another is that the wines made from this site are worth their weight in gold. The key to success is in the soil. A thin layer of clay over bedrock provides power, elegance and depth to the wines.

"A very juicy riesling Kabinett with a very fresh pink grapefruit acidity that gives this fantastic drive and energy, the natural grape sweetness pushed way into the background. Mouthwatering freshness at the very long finish. Just 8% alcohol. Drink n"

"This year, the 2022 Riesling Nahesteiner Kabinett was harvested in Dorsheim and Burg Layen exclusively on sites classified as Erste and Grosse Lage. The nose sprays with vivid apple and citrus freshness. Grapefruit tempers green and yellow apple aromas. The palate is rounded and light. It carries vivid white-fleshed fruit at its core, laced with ripe lemon. The finish is juicy and lasting. Residual sweetness sits just above 40 g/l. (Medium)"
