"The 2021 A Boca do Demo shows a combination of floral notes with earthy hints and a nose that combines some herbal and ripe notes. It comes mostly from slate soils with a small part of granite. They try to harvest early and do short macerations in a 1,000-liter oak foudre. The nose feels fresher than what the palate points at, and there are some earthy tannins. It's usually my favorite wine, but it did not have a great showing this time. 1,300 bottles produced."

"The A Boca Do Demo from Raúl Pérez and Rodrigo Méndez is made from classic regional field blend of Mencía, Bastardo, Mouratón, Caiño, Brancellao and Garnacha Tintorera. It is a single vineyard wine, from the Finca as Bodegas, which was planted in 1950. The wine is one hundred percent whole clusters and raised in older foudre and demi-muids. The 2020 A Boca Do 62 Demo offers up a deep and precise bouquet of cassis, dark berries, espresso, just a touch of pomegranate, sweet botanicals, stony soil tones, graphite, cigar smoke, gentle meatiness and a hint of cedar in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and soil-driven in personality, with a beautiful core of black fruit, fine-grained tannins, impeccable balance and a long, complex and utterly refined finish. This has more inherent elegance than the broader shouldered Finca El Curvado in this vintage. It is a truly stunning young bottle of Ribeira Sacra Tinto! 2034-2075+."
