"Medium verging on deep purple in colour. Intensely brambly with dried earth, chilli spice and ripe black fruit. Full and weighty palate with fresh acid and grippy tannin. Finishes with sweet violet florals. Accessible now but could use some time to show its best. (SCJ)"

"The 2022 Bedrock Vineyard Heritage Wine is a super-attractive wine from this site. Fresh and vibrant, the 2022 shows more energy than in most years. A change in farming, especially with regards to deleafing, yielded a wine with less heft than in the past. There's good energy, even if the wine feels a little light. In most vintages, the Bedrock is a potent, big wine. In 2022, the pendulum has swung back, but perhaps too far. This fruit was picked between August 31 and September 12."

"The 2022 Bedrock Vineyard Heritage comes from a vineyard planted in 1888 to 29 different grape varieties. It has slowly unfurling scents of blueberry, red cherry and apricot with nuances of pepper, earth and floral potpourri. The full-bodied palate offers generous, nuanced flavors structured by youthfully chalky tannins and bursts of lip-smacking acidity, and it has a long, spicy finish."

"Brooding and deeply structured, this retains a sense of focus and vibrancy, with flavors of wild berries, clove, savory anise and green peppercorn that build tension and zestiness toward medium-grained tannins. Zinfandel, Carignan and Mataro. Best from 2025 through 2034. —T.F."
