Port '20 Yr. White'

Port 20 Yr White Kopke

A Malvasia Fina-based blend of traditional Douro white varieties, grown on schist-sandstone soils at 600 meters of elevation.

Tawny port is a style marked by the oxidative characteristics of long aging in oak barrels. Casks of different years are then blended to achieve the desired age character – in Kopke’s case, the age on the label is the average age of all the wines in the blend.

"Mid-deep amber/mahogany colour. Full and slightly lifted on the nose. The palate is fresh and round with sweet, suave, succulent fruit and a slightly grippy, peppery finish."

"Deep apricot gold. Immediately showing more aromatic complexity than the 2012 white port, not just dried fruits but also caramelised nuts and golden spice. The alcohol is fully integrated and the acidity is a better foil to the sweetness here with a lovely bite of freshness on the finish. Long, succulent, delicious on its own or with hard or blue cheese. Kopke's notes also suggest foie gras, mushroom risotto, or desserts such as crème brûlée and apple crumble! Or you could just sip it slowly and contemplatively on its own. (JH)"
