"The 2021 Estate Pinot Noir Pomarium is notable this vintage for its balance of concentrated fruit and vibrant freshness. Its broody scents of cranberry sauce, mushroom and conifer give way to licorice and Angostura bitters as it spends time in the glass. Its concentrated flavors defy its youthfully reluctant aromas, offering wave after wave of perfumed fruit. It has a fine, chalky frame and focused acidity that drives its long, layered finish. It drinks beautifully straight from the bottle, but it may have more to offer in another 3-5 years."

"Pomarium is Latin for apple orchard. The Peay estate is a former 140-year-old apple orchard on the far West Sonoma Coast; nowadays, it is planted to Calera, Mt Eden, Swann and 667 clones, mainly the last two. The floral notes are pungent with hints of earth, frankincense and smoked cedar. This wine is 10% whole cluster; there's a red plum character with early-season tart blackberries, though there is a real woodsy character, dried pine needles, and early-season blackberry. Delicious."

"The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate Pomarium is the most virile and earthy of the Peay Pinots. It offers up wild cherry, crushed autumn leaves, spice, tobacco and incense. Potent tannins add to an impression of somber gravitas. I find the 2021 a bit burly, but that is a pretty small critique at this level."

"Youthful ruby with a hint of light magenta, on the nose, the 2022 Pinot Noir Pomarium offers bright pomegranate lift, fresh pine needles, minty herbs, dried flowers, and a hint of licorice. It reveals vibrant tension and deeper concentration on the palate, with a long, earthy finish and notes of tea leaf. Its ripe tannins have a chiseled but elegant feel, and it's fantastically sculpted. Drink 2026-2046."

"A beautiful floral bouquet and soft raspberry fruit aromas overflow the glass on the nose of this Pinot. The hallmark of Peay's coastal vineyard is clear in both the energy and subtlety of the midpalate, where cherry, black tea and cedar meet lemon pith and slate in a constantly evolving kaleidoscope of tannin and acid for almost ninety seconds. — Tom R. "The 2022 Pinot Noir Estate Pomarium is fabulous. Broad, ample and resonant, the Pomarium shows the more extroverted side of the year. Black fruit, mocha, chocolate, incense, leather and dark spice soar out of the glass. This potent, brooding Pinot Noir packs a tremendous punch. It's the most extroverted Pinot in the Peay range and is absolutely fantastic in this tasting. - Anthonio Galloni"

"The 2022 Estate Pinot Noir Pomarium is scented of pomegranate, forest floor, rooibos tea leaves and mushrooms. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated, juicy fruit, gently chalky tannins and a latent, spicy finish. It could use another year or two in bottle."
