"A bit deeper straw color, the 2016 Champagne Grand Cru Verzenay Fins Lieux No. 6 Les Crayères Extra Brut is entirely Pinot Noir and is very pretty on the nose, with wild raspberry fruit, fresh floral perfume, and a hint of tropical fruit coming through. The palate displays wonderful mineral persistence and feels like the most complete of the Black de Noirs from the range. It has great, layered complexity, with a pillowing and rounded mousse. A very detailed wine that captures purity and refinement as well as complexity, I would snap this up. Drink over the next 15-20 years."

"The 2014 Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Verzenay Les Crayeres Fins Lieux #2 is another terrific wine from David Pehu. It captures all the signatures of this year in its brisk, nervy personality and overall energy. Readers will find an especially floral, savory Blanc de Noirs where the 100% Pinot is felt more in the wine's structure than flavor profile. Time in the glass brings out tangerine peel, hazelnut and spice notes that beautifully complement an ethereal, nuanced finish. The 2014 was vinified and aged in barrel. Dosage is 1.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: October, 2022."
