The fourth release in Mars’s Bakemono series, and the second to come from the Komagatake Distillery, features Sara-hebi, a serpent with the head of a woman. One of the more nebulous characters in Japanese mythology, Sara-hebi is thought to share narrative origins with the nure-onna (wet woman) or ubume (birthing woman), representing a mysterious and tragic spirit that often symbolizes the dangers surrounding childbirth and has dubious intentions toward those who cross her path.
