Ried Mühlpoint Federspiel Wachau Grüner Veltliner
Ried Mühlpoint Federspiel Wachau Grüner Veltliner
Variety: Grüner Veltliner • Region: Wachau • Vineyard: Ried Mühlpoint • Soil Type: Clay mixed with gneiss • Fermentation & Élevage: Stainless steel with a small amount of neutral Austrian oak
Ried Mühlpoint:
The Mühlpoint vineyard is located on the slope of the Steinertal. While in the upper part of the influence of the mountain is still clearly felt and gneiss penetrates to the surface, the lower half is increasingly characterized by the level and continuously deeper loam layers. Aromatically, these factors are mainly noticeable through a pronounced spiciness.

"The 2023 Grüner Veltliner Mühlpoint Federspiel, a site just underneath Steinertal, in the lower reaches where there's more loess in the gneiss deposits. It's gently savory on the nose and delivers yeast and pepper. The palate has a lovely stoniness and a slender aspect, with the pepperiness shimmering on the yeasty mid-palate. Lemon, stone and pepper make for a juicy, light-footed Federspiel. (Bone-dry)"

"I like the subtle white pepper and lemongrass spice here, along with grapefruit, white pears and small white flowers. Plenty of coolness and freshness, with a medium body and a refreshing finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

"The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Mühlpoint Federspiel is picked directly below the Steinertal vineyard. The soils are loamier, with a little loess mixed with eroded gneiss debris that was deposited here. The nose presents ripe green and yellow pear, with sage and white pepper crushed into a paste. While fruit and body are rounded, poise and elongation are also here. This is beautiful and elegant with lovely pepperiness. (Bone-dry)"
