"The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Ried Lamm was harvested on the eastern slope bordering the Heiligenstien on loess on top of sandstone, fermented and aged in 300-liter barrels with yeast stirring. Smoke and hazelnut on the nose point to oak and reduction in equal measure. Underneath that, some herbal savor shines through. The palate comes in with pristine acidity, edged with stone-fruit ripeness and a smooth, fluid mouthfeel. The yeasty texture is a backdrop for this rounded yet immensely contoured wine that represents freshness, understatement and length. (Bone-dry)"

"Rich and full-bodied, this is a serious high-end gruner veltliner with a wealth of candied-citrus aromas plus a touch of bergamot. Compact and concentrated with a great interplay of tannins and restrained ripeness. Long, very structured finish. From organically grown grapes. "

"The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Ried Lamm 1–TW is deep and pure yet also intense and complex on the rich, lemony and herbal as well as stony and saline nose. Full-bodied, rich and finely tannic on the palate due to the aging in oak, this is a dense and concentrated yet vital, fresh, refined and persistently saline Veltliner from the famous Lamm vineyard that is located at the bottom of the Heiligenstein and thus grown on richer soils. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in March 2024."

"Immediately creamy/spicy impression (this is typically fermented and aged in 300-litre oak, including 30% new). That same impression on the palate, especially now the wine has warmed in the glass, but the oak is well integrated. Big, firmly textured but remarkably fresh and very long with pure pear and citrus fruit. Chewy texture and needs time but this surely has a very long life ahead. Shows the benefit of releasing these wines a year later, especially given the oak. (JH)"

"The 2021 Grüner Veltliner Ried Lamm is from parcels directly on the Heilgienstein border, on the eastern flank of the site. It was fermented in 300-liter barrels (20% were new), with gentle bâtonnage for around four to six weeks. Smoke, hazelnut and honey hover over a much more tender but distinct note of peppery yeast. The body is immediately fluid and fresh, with a wave of brightness washing over the palate, followed by the sensation of depth. A lovely chalkiness pervades the mouth, edged with a sensation that is like an amalgam of hazelnut and white pepper, backed by a dried yarrow flavor. Depth, poise and full but exacting contour shine, echoing impressively long on the finish. (Bone-dry)"

"Still rather reductive but deep and intense on the dense and complex nose, the 2021 Grüner Veltliner Ried Lamm 1–TW is a very complex white from Langenlois's most famous Veltliner site. It is a full-bodied but utterly mineral wine that adds muscles to the body, which is not based on alcohol and fruit but built by layers of minerals, phenols, sulfur (?) and tension. This full-bodied and structured wine is still far too tight and young to be served, but it is full of promising potential. It's a spectacularly long Lamm provided with fine tannins and positive astringency. A release date three years after the harvest would still be early enough. Beware, this wine is a challenge. (And I tasted it over three weeks...) 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2024."
