Schloss Gobelsburg Ried Lamm 1 TW Kamptal DAC Grner Veltliner

Variety: Grüner Veltliner
Region: Kamptal DAC Reserve
Vineyard: Ried Lamm
Soil Type: Permian sandstone, clay
Fermentation & Élevage: Austrian Manhatsberg oak cask

Ried Lamm:
Ried Lamm is situated on the southeast slope of the Heiligenstein. Besides erosion material from Heiligenstein (perm, red siltstone) a high proportion of clay can be found here. The vineyard is south-facing and very well exposed. This helps develop the grapes for a wine that, after maturation in traditional double-foudre casks from local forest of Manhartsberg, shows great power and elegance.

"The 2021 Grüner Veltliner Ried Lamm has a hint of nutty, creamy oak. The palate also has a creaminess, and a flavor of freshly peeled green banana that expands into the woodland-scented freshness of moss. The palate has resonance and fluidity, beautifully captured understated ripeness and an inner calm that exudes quiet power. The body is fine, rounded, smooth and absolutely harmonious, finishing long and vibrant. (Bone-dry)"

"Showing clear, elegant fruit of ripe, spicy pear with a fine terroir tone, the 2021 Ried Lamm 1–TW is a finely juicy, very elegant and full-bodied but not alcoholic Grüner Veltliner with delicate acidity and stimulating salinity. It is a stylistically confident, typical Kamptal cru from the foot of the Heiligenstein. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at Schloss Grafenegg, September 2023."

"Well crafted, classic style, this shows a lot of substance, with a rich mix of peach, tarragon and orchard blossom, with more than enough acidity to support it. Finish is long and features a mineral crunch. —A.Z."
