Caffo Grappa Italiana is an unaged grappa produced by Caffo Distilleria Friulia in Udine, Italy. Comprised of 95% Magliocco and Gaglioppo grapes with 5% Pinot Grigio, Caffo Grappa Italiana is distilled twice in in a bain-marie-style alembic pot still wherein the grape skins are steam distilled, resulting in a softer, less fiery spirit than expected from the category. The nose is reminiscent of an unaged Armagnac or pisco, with high floral notes and aromas of Bosc pear. The palate is soft and silky, showing plenty of pear, underripe tropical fruit, toasted rice, and fresh cream. Enjoy on its own or mixed into cocktails in need of a touch of dried fruit. 40% ABV.
