Compass Box’s Extinct Blends Quartet reimagines four blended Scotches—which would otherwise be lost to the past—using some of their rarest and most idiosyncratic whisky stocks. Metropolis is based upon a well-respected blend from The Glenmorangie Company, for which production ended around a decade ago, renowned for having the highest malt content of any blended Scotch. Metropolis recalls that extinct blend with rich, honeyed parcels coupled with a touch of smoke courtesy of whisky from the Bowmore Distillery.

"This third installment has a nose of banana candy, Victoria sponge cake, honey, lemon, jellied orange, dried apricot, and fin spices, developing more juicy orange and a whisper of smoke. The palate has a concentrated fruity intensity with apricot, orange, lemon, and butterscotch, interrupted by a spicy kick of ginger and pepper, followed by chocolate orange, tangy citrus, and dried mango, with a catch of smoke again at the swallow.
