"Today, the 2021 Chardonnay Summum is quite restrained and backward, slowly evolving with hints of young peach, lemon sorbet, stone dust and rosemary. It sweeps across the palate with soft textures, coming across as elegant and refined as saline minerals add a more tactile feel and crisp orchard fruits cascade throughout. Flinty and incredibly long, the 2021 takes a turn toward the savory spectrum, leaving a spicy sensation alongside a crystalline structure that tempts the imagination. Still just a baby, the 2021 is extremely exciting to taste."

"The 2021 Chardonnay Summum takes some time to shake off its matchstick character before revealing warm white peaches, pie crust and spicy accents. The medium-bodied palate explodes with honeyed, nutty flavors. Its mouth-coating texture is refreshed by vibrant acidity, and it has a very long finish. It will age gracefully in bottle over the next 10-15 years."

"Precise and elegantly dynamic, this white unfurls slowly, offering expressive green apple and Meyer lemon flavors, with stony minerality and spicy lees accents that build detail on the lingering finish. Drink now through 2027. 437 cases made."

"Pale lemon in colour. Gorgeous nose with lemon, tangerine, vanilla blossom and a tense edge of flinty reduction. Acid is high and bright, again complimented by the waxiness that runs through the Chardonnays of this portfolio. Finish is long with evolving notes of toast, dairy and yeast. (SCJ)"

"The Summum Chardonnay from the Evening Land Seven Springs Estate is a thing of beauty. The aromatics of crushed slate, oyster shells and briny lemon peel offer an angularity that belies the wine's rich textured mouthfeel. The savoury elements continue to leap out at you, with briny notes of seafoam, salted lemon and brisk, piquant early-season nectarine flesh. The richness of the texture is constantly buoyed by the wealth of minerality in this delightful Chardonnay, showing why the Eola-Amity Hills offer some of the best terroir for the variety in the US."

"Full of energy and vibrancy, this expressive and layered chardonnay offers dried lemon, dried pineapple, spice, herb, lemon curd, seashell and umami character. The medium-bodied palate is smooth and finely textured, with gentle creaminess balanced by bright acidity and a lingering, minerally finish. So pure and delicious. Drink or hold."

"There has to be a language where summum means totally worth it. This majestic Chardonnay leads with a lemony magnolia aroma, then jabs with notes of toasted filberts, gunflint, butter and Golden Delicious apples. Vigorous acidity and a lithe texture accompany flavors like lemon curd, dragon fruit and lime zest. Extraordinary stuff. Editors' Choice. —M.A."

"Youthfully intense, the 2022 Chardonnay Summum is distinctly savory yet wickedly fresh, with notes of nectarine, spring flowers and wet stone wafting from the glass. Concentrated and densely packed, this floods the palate with soothingly ripe orchard fruits and sweet spices, complicated by hints of lemon custard. The 2022 takes on a crunchy sensation through the finish, structured and long with a mineral saturation that adds tactile precision. There is a long and bright future in store for patient collectors."

"An absolutely beautiful nose of peach blossom, tangerine, lemon and a brush of vanilla oak character. Balanced and fresh on the palate. The aromas are pristine and layered – I can't stop sticking my nose in this glass. Long finish. (SCJ)"
