"Vincent Dampt (grandson of Jean Defaix) trained in Beaune and the Jura before spells with Olivier Leflaive and in Marlborough, NZ. From old vines in Milly, this shows typical weight on the palate, lots of generosity and purity that's cut precisely with a fine line of lemon-lime acidity. Finely poised, an impressive advert for this premier cru."

"The 2022 Chablis Côte de Léchet 1er Cru is too reduced on the nose, and the SO2 obscures the terroir expression. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity and is actually far better than the aromatics. Quite fresh, nicely poised, with a touch of sour lemon on the finish, this has quite a long aftertaste. It's just the aromatics that let this down. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis."
