"This wine continues to floor us vintage after vintage. We ranked it No. 1 on our list of The 50 Best Wines of 2018 and we awarded the 2019 vintage 99 points. The current vintage is equally impressive. It is a representation of the past, present, and future of Cabernet Sauvignon in the Napa Valley. It shows the elegance and restraint of the '70s and '80s, the power and depth of the '90s and early aughts along with the bright fruit preferred today lifted by lively natural acidity. This wine offers the powerful tannic frame of a Cab, while maintaining restraint and elegance. The fruit has depth but still shows brightness. The palate is somewhat weighty but with a perfect harmony between all the major elements. It has more tannin than 2019 but is just as wonderful — a perfect representation of the legacy of Napa and especially the high-elevation vineyards of Mount Veeder."

"A creamy texture surrounds pretty floral and black fruit flavors in this elegant, poised wine. It escaped the vintage's smoke effects, and offers pure blackcurrant and black cherry flavors that expand on the palate and linger in the finish. Medium- to full-bodied. Made from 100% cabernet sauvignon. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now but best from 2029."

"The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the wines of this very challenging harvest. Dark and imposing, the 2020 is packed with black fruit, cloves, leather, menthol, chocolate and dried herbs. This is an especially dense, potent Cabernet. There is some aggressiveness to the tannins, but that is the vintage. Overall, this is impeccably done, especially within the context of the year."

"The grapes for Mayacamas's 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon were harvested between September 5th and 16th, well before the Glass Fire. To mitigate any possible smoke exposure from the LNU Complex Fires, the fruit was rinsed, maceration times were shortened, and the press wine was kept separate (and ultimately mostly bulked out). The results speak for themselves, as the wine offers up clean cassis, cherries and blueberries, plus hints of sage and cracked pepper. It's medium to full-bodied and firmly built, with dusty tannins on the finish."

"This is zesty and lively, with good energy (especially for a '20) to the mix of bramble, sweet bay and chaparral notes liberally infusing its core of black currant and bitter plum fruit. Taut and structured, with a cast iron note bolting through the finish. Needs some time to settle in but is loaded with character and nicely done for the vintage. Best from 2027 through 2037. 2,900 cases made."

"If you're shelling out a pretty penny on a bottle you're slapping a bow on and giving away, you want to make sure the liquid inside it is as impressive as its price tag suggests. And let us tell you, this bottle from Mayacamas is more than worth the splurge. It's expertly balanced with concentrated yet restrained fruit notes of red plums and blackberries, and just a hint of savory pepper. It has a wonderful, silky texture and a seamlessly woven tannin structure. Top-tier Napa Cabs are definitely a popular choice this time of year, but there's no doubt this is one of the best that money can buy."

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a pretty rich, bombastic wine, especially for Mayacamas. A blast of dark fruit, incense, tobacco, licorice, spice and mocha hits the palate. I would give the 2019 at least a few years in bottle to settle down, as it is quite the powerhouse today. This is an unusually flamboyant wine with plenty of richness and a bit less in the way of subtlety. The opulence of the vintage comes through loud and clear."

"Moving to the current releases, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly on another level. Cassis, violets, spring flowers, and graphite, as well as a beautiful sense of minerality, all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, fine, polished tannins, fabulous balance, and a great finish. This stunning bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon will drink nicely over the coming 30 years or more."

"Seductive aromas of dark cherries, mulberries, spiced plums, wild herbs and dried spices. Medium to full body with finely grained tannins. Textural and suave with a voluptuous array of berries, cherries and raw cocoa on the palate. Velvety and well-balanced with a focused developing finish. Drink or hold."
