"Aromas of hibiscus, orange peel, sour cherries, licorice and bark. I like the energy and vivacity here, with crunchy citrus and floral undertones matching the medium body and tight-knit tannin frame. Fresh finish. Drink from 2023."

"At lofty elevations near the town of Montalcino, Scopetone totals five hectares. From the now 40-year-old vines, owners Loredana Tanganelli and Antonio Brandi carve out 7,000 bottles of Brunello annually. with forest underbrush, walnut and wet earth, this 2018 makes way for more lifted tones of pressed cherry blossom. Midweight and lightly structured, it flows effortlessly though is still tight through the core. Not an obvious wine, but it has length and balance."

"The Podere Scopetone 2018 Brunello di Montalcino has a soft and gentle character that is well suited to the more immediate or near-term profile of the vintage. There is sour cherry and plum at the start, and the wine maintains that rather tart and fresh personality throughout. Only in the palate are those flavors fleshed out by heavier notes of tobacco, cola and grilled herb. At the end, the wine reverts back to those bitter fruit flavors. Only 6,120 bottles were made."

"A juicy and fruity red with plum, cherry and ripe orange-peel character. It's medium-bodied with a round and polished tannin texture and a fruity finish. Very drinkable now, but will improve with age."

"A bright red brick color, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino lifts from the glass with aromas of grenadine, baking spice, cinnamon, and crushed roses. Elegant and medium-bodied, it offers fine tannins and a floating feel on the palate, with a hint of sanguine earth and dried leaves. A lovely Brunello that's showing very well now, I would prefer to enjoy it over the next several years. This would be a terrific wine for restaurants to pour by the glass if the price permits."

"Sour cherries are complemented by cedar shavings and spiced orange hints as the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino slowly evolves in the glass. This is youthfully tight and lean, with a core of tart red berry fruits and mineral tones that saturate under an air of rosy inner florals. Gently tannic and long, the 2020 leaves the senses drenched in primary concentration. Patience is needed to allow this to fill out and put on some weight."

"Just mid ruby. Marasca cherry, pine, hints of smoke and tobacco leaf. Light cherry-fruit palate with a thick layer of powdery tannins. Lacks a little in fruit for the tannic load. (WS)"

"Pale medium red. Elegant, clean, rich and very minerally, this is a beautifully suave and floral Brunello that also speaks of wild strawberries, raspberry licqueur and orange peel. The aftertaste is juicy and very pure, not to mention focused and brightly energetic. Excellent wine in very much made in a Euro style, but if you like Chambolle-Musigny and Margaux then you can't not like a Sangiovese wine that is so perfumed, floral and stylish. Drinking window: 2029-2040."

"Aromas of hibiscus and dried cranberry energize savory, umami nose of damp earth, pepper and hot tar on the nose. The palate leans into that tang, as flavors of cherries and bitter orange lift more cranberry, but chalky tannins fortify a peppery earthiness to preserve balance. — Danielle Callegari"

"Sour cherries with orange peel and hints of vanilla bean. Some bark, too. Medium body, with very fine tannins and a fresh and bright finish. Lean and agile. Drink after 2026."

"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino opens slowly in the glass, evolving with a blend of dried black cherries, spiced orange and hints of shaved cedar. It's soft textured, nearly fleshy in feel, with a balancing core of tart wild berry fruits and brisk acidity. A gentle coating of grippy tannins lingers along with orange and inner rose notes as the 2019 finishes with medium length and youthfully tense."

"Concentrated mid ruby with orange tinges. Rather closed and a little stalky/reduced on the nose. Supple cherry fruit accompanied by mellow creamy notes and firm tannins. Those tannins would have needed a little extra fruit power to be truly balanced. (WS) 14.5%"
