- Limited release bottled in bond straight bourbon whiskey produced by New Riff Distilling in Newport, Kentucky
- Mash bill of 65% corn, 20% malted oat, 7% pale ale malt, 5% steel cut raw oats, and 3% chocolate malt
- Open top, sour mash fermented using water sourced from a high-mineral, limestone-fed aquifer located directly beneath the distillery
- Twice distilled; the first run in a Vendome copper column still followed by distillation in a copper continuous doubler
- Aged a minimum of 4 years
- A well-oaked nose of dark chocolate and spice precedes a surprisingly dry and delicate palate with notes of kasha-style buckwheat, blueberry skin, toasted oats, and Belgian cocoa
- Non-chill filtered; 50% ABV
Inspired by the brewing backgrounds of many New Riff team members and the rich, comforting chocolate oatmeal stouts they enjoy throughout the winter, Winter Whiskey is a malt-driven, oat-forward bourbon crafted to bring warmth and cheer in the coldest, darkest months of the year. Despite the suggestion of confectionary chocolate conjured by the mash bill, Winter Whiskey displays a delicate dryness anchored by deep, roasted notes of cocoa powder and dried oat.
