Bourbon Whiskey Limited Series (Amburana Cask- 9th Floor) Carl T. Bourbon

• Single cask, Amburana cask finished bourbon produced by Starlight Distillery in Starlight, Indiana
• Barrel No. 23-2072-1 was selected by the Skurnik Spirits Team and bottled exclusively for Skurnik
• Blend of two mash bills: a three-grain mash bill of 60% corn, 20% rye, and 20% malted barley and a four-grain mash bill of 51% corn, 20% rye, 20% malted barley, and 9% wheat
• Produced using estate-grown non-GMO corn, rye, and wheat; malted barley is locally sourced
• Closed-top, sweet mash fermented in stainless steel for seven days
• Twice distilled in a Vendome brass and copper pot still
• Primarily aged in new American oak and finished for 3 months in a refill Amburana barrel from Brazil that previously held Starlight bourbon; aged a minimum of 6 years in total
• Non-chill filtered; bottled at a cask strength of 56.25% ABV

“The nose is intense with tons of cinnamon, clove, toasted coconut, and leather up front. I can understand why Starlight refers to their Amburana-finished whiskey as a “Cigar Batch”—this is a cigar lovers’ whiskey.  Lots of tobacco leaf and baking spice up front and the mid-palate is a rollercoaster of flavors from dark chocolate to Honey Nut Cheerios. The finish is long and sweet.
