Barrell Craft Spirits Seagrass (Limited Edition - Gray Label - 19yr)

Barrell Craft Spirits Seagrass Limited Edition Gray Label 19yr
  • Limited edition premium blend of rye whiskies sourced, finished, blended, and bottled by Barrell Craft Spirits in Louisville, Kentucky
  • Composed of two groups of 100% Canadian rye whisky
  • Aged 19 years; finished in a combination of apricot brandy, malmsey madeira, and Martinique rhum Agricole casks
  • Savory aromas of caraway, fenugreek, dill, and mustard mingle with notes of cucumber peel and black olive from the rhum agricole casks; an oily palate displays peanut, coconut, and tea tree oils with the madeira cask providing grapefruit peel, verjus, and gravel while the apricot brandy cask imparts passion fruit, Mirabelle plum, and banana peel on the finish
  • Non-chill filtered; bottled at a cask strength of 64.15% ABV

Gray Label Seagrass is back! The third edition of this premium, limited release whiskey boasts an impressive nineteen-year age statement and is composed of two groups of 100% Canadian rye whiskies—one with bright citrus and crisp green apple notes and the other with earthy spearmint notes. A portion of the first group was finished in apricot brandy casks, a portion of the second group was finished in Martinique rhum agricole barrels, and a blend of the first and second groups was finished in malmsey madeira barrels. When each set of secondary maturation flavors peaked, those casks were slowly married into the final blend.

"The 2024 bottling of Seagrass is Barrell's third foray in this line of well-aged Canadian rye whiskies and makes excellent use of its array of barrel finishes. The nose blends overripe bananas, oxidized fruits, and dried apricots with drying spices, toasted grain, and a hint of roasted corn sweetness. The palate dials up the spice, creating a dance between the funkier fruit notes and the assertive cinnamon and pepper flavors. In the end, spice wins and this whisky finishes with a sizzle.
