"A beautiful Barolo here with a touch of dried spices to the grapefruit citrus, minerals, camphor and dried flowers. Melted, chalky tannins on the palate with medium to full body and a long, mineral-driven finish. Lots of clarity and finesse here. Drink or hold."

"Youthful deep ruby in color, the 2020 Barolo is ripe and spicy with aromas of dried cherries, red berries, peppercorn, alpine herbs, and pressed flowers. Medium-bodied, it's elegant and polished, with silky tannins, ripe fruit, clean lift, and a clean finish. Elegant all the way through, it handles its sunny feel with ease. It's approachable for enjoying now or over the coming 8-10 years."

"Aromas of ripe berry, blue flower dog rose, camphor and spice form the nose on the 2020 Barolo from Paolo Scavino. Smooth and savory, the palate delivers juicy cherry, licorice and a hint of espresso alongside smooth, almost silky tannins. Drink through 2030. Abv: 14.5%"

"The Paolo Scavino 2020 Barolo (with Enrico Scavino's signature on the front of the bottle) has a handful of savory herbs, barbecue rub, ripe plum, sweet cherry and dried currant. There are notes of aniseed, but otherwise, the wine is quite broad-brushed, thick or husky on the mid-palate. It ends with balanced freshness. The blend borrows fruit from Rocche Moriondino, Vignolo, Pernanno, Terlo, Albarella, Vignane, San Bernardo, Cerretta and Bussia Vigna Fantini. It ages in oak casks for 22 months, and 50,000 bottles were made."

"A truly inspiring Barolo! Opening with aromas of macerated Bing cherries kissed with clove and anise that then evolves into notes of wild herbs and earth. The elegant palate is open and giving with ample fruit at its center while retaining more of its soul for a few years in the cellar. Drink now–2040. Cellar Selection. —J.P."

"The 2020 Barolo is seriously beautiful. Pliant and creamy, with terrific depth, the 2020 impresses with its bold, open-knit personality. A burst of dark red cherry/plum fruit, rose petal, mint and spice lend notable character to this decidedly exuberant Barolo from the Scavino family."

"This expressive red delivers cherry, floral, licorice, eucalyptus and tar flavors. Turns firm on the finish, where dense tannins leave a strong grip. Fresh and long. Best from 2027 through 2042. 4,100 cases made, 1,900 cases imported."

"Enticing scents of rose, violet, perfumed berry and spice permeate the glass on the fragrant and refined 2021 classic Barolo from Paolo Scavino. The beautiful aromas carry over to the elegantly structured, delicious palate along with succulent Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon and mint. Taut, fine-grained tannins provide seamless support while fresh acidity keeps it balanced and vibrant. A fabulous showing, this will be even better in a few years. Drink 2028–2036. Abv: 14.5%"

"To be released in January 2025, the Paolo Scavino 2021 Barolo is bright and vivid, showing the focus and character of the vintage. This sample is still quite tight, and the tannins are firmly knit. However, the tannins are more elegant and silkier in the 2021 compared to 2020. I recommend giving this wine more time in bottle to allow it to fully flesh out."

"Restrained and compact nose with vibrant violets and dried cherries, refreshed by pomegranate and oak bark. Full-bodied on the palate with a sold backbone of tannins that turn dusty and drier on the finish. Crisp acidity and an austere aftertaste. Try from 2027."

"Lacy and elegant, yet with ample tannins for structure, featuring rose, strawberry, cherry and mineral aromas and flavors. Pure and focused, this red stays in the red fruit spectrum through the long finish. Shows excellent balance in its youthful way. Best from 2028 through 2045.—B.S."

"From nine sites spread throughout the villages of Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, Serralunga and Monforte, Scavino's classic Barolo isn't crafted simply for accessibility. It is, perhaps, more immediately harmonious than the MGA bottlings. Entrancing aromas combine truffle, orange and potting soil, with intense violet as it opens. Heftier and fuller than the nose suggests, the palate demonstrates ample fruit ripeness and lots of chalky tannins. Satisfyingly confident in its grip, the tangy finish echoes all the wine's innate prettiness."

"The 2021 Barolo is a terrific entry-level offering from Scavino. Crushed flowers, spice and dried herbs give this mid-weight, juicy Barolo striking aromatic presence. Soft and silky on the palate, with racy, forward fruit, the 2021 is a delight. Drink it over the next handful of years."

"Scavino's 2019 Barolo is a very pretty, classically-built wine. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, white pepper and chalk give the 2019 an attractive upper register of brightness to match its taut, mid-weight personality. This is a rare straight Barolo that will benefit from a bit of time in bottle."
