"This has lovely ripe fruit, with rich plum and peach fruit on the nose, plus hazelnut, orange and bread crust too. It's full-bodied, creamy and textured with melt-in-your-mouth tannins. Delicious finish. Try from 2026."

"Moving to the Barolo side of the La Spinetta portfolio, the 2020 Barolo Garretti has a notably flashier, riper, and deeper profile, with aromas of balsamic herbs, candied cherries, and sweet licorice. Medium to full-bodied, it's rounded on the palate, with ripe tannins and notes of sweet tea leaf through the finish. This is another well-styled, ripe Barolo with some approachability now, although its oak spice warrants time to potentially integrate more completely. It very well may improve and garner more attention in another year or two. Drink over the next 8-10 years."

"The 2020 Barolo Vigneto Garretti is a plump, juicy Barolo that will delight La Spinetta fans. A burst of dark red/purplish fruit, herbs, flowers, vanillin and sweet oak makes a strong first impression. Soft contours add immediacy and charm. The 2020 is very nicely done. Even so, I would like to see less new wood. The wine doesn't need it, and Barolos like this are increasingly outliers."
