"This is the pearl in this precious collection of new releases from Mauro Molino. With only 3,066 bottles created, the 2021 Barolo Conca comes from a hillside site in panoramic La Morra with southern exposures. The oak is prominent here (with malolactic fermentation and maturation in barrique), but the Conca fruit has the natural structure and texture to hold an elegant and focused composure throughout. Indeed, I'd say that the wine's intense sharpness is its prettiest attribute. However, I do recommend that you set it aside for more bottle aging."

"Tasted as a barrel sample and more orange-tinged in color, the 2021 Barolo Conca is compact and concentrated with notes of rosemary and red cherry licorice. It has wonderful structure and purity, and it's mouthwatering and mineral in texture, but it displays great tension and is going to need a few years in bottle for sure."

"The 2021 Barolo Conca emerges from one of the better-known sites in La Morra. Sweet red cherry, orange peel, mint, cinnamon and sweet spice give this mid-weight Barolo lovely aromatic charm. I would give this a year or two in bottle, as the tannins are a bit firm today. There's lovely mid-palate pliancy waiting to emerge."

"Medium youthful ruby in hue, the 2020 Barolo Conca is showing off in this sunny vintage, with notes of crushed strawberries, sweet cedar, incense, and fresh lavender. Noble and long, this elegant and medium-bodied Barolo offers up wonderful length and a haunting finish revealing notes of orange peel and rocky earth. It's a lovely wine with a hint of warmth on the finish, although it's still weightless. Drink 2026-2046."

"Perfumed and elegant, this red features cherry, raspberry, rose and mineral flavors that show a hint of underbrush. Balanced and open, with an accent of oak spice on the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2028 through 2045. —B.S."

"This shows a spicy nose of ground cloves, licorice, cedar, cherries and wild strawberries with hints of dried sage and crushed stones. It's framed with firm and lightly chewy tannins, but the mid-palate is juicy and vibrant. Medium-bodied. Textural and smooth at the end. Try after 2026."

"The 2020 Barolo Conca is a pretty rich, full-bodied wine for La Morra, but it's a style that works. Cinnamon, cloves, rose petal, mocha and sweet French oak weave through a core of intense, red-toned fruit. Plush, silky contours wrap it all together nicely. The Conca is the most immediate of the four crus in the range. As such, it will drink well with minimal cellaring."

"The Mauro Molino 2020 Barolo Conca has loads of spice and is oak-driven throughout. In terms of fruit, you get a bit of grenadine and red berry, but the mouthfeel is kicked up with spice, oak and toasted aniseed. Even the tannins are oak driven. This is a limited 3,040-bottle release. Give it a few more years of bottle age."

"Nose dominated by graphite notes from the wood, with sweet violet, leather, cherry kernel and a beautiful savouriness. On the palate, a modernist styling shows chalky tannins and a toasty taste accompanied by refreshing acidity, then a persistent tobacco finish. Needs a little more time to come together."

"La Morra. Palish ruby. A beguiling nose of minerally stony notes mingling with raspberry and oak. On the palate raspberry laced with oak. Lots of grainy tannins that need to settle. Long, aromatic oak-and-red-fruit finish. Skilfully done."
