"Pouring a youthful medium red color, the 2020 Barolo Boiolo is spicy and packed with lifted aromas of alpine herbs, pine needles, wild mint, cranberries, orange zest, and clove. Energetic, balanced, and medium-bodied, its approachable up front before its more serious, grippy tannins come through on the back and sides of the mouth, with an earthy finish of tea leaf and dark earth. A very charming wine with a kiss of sweet fruit throughout, it's a nicely styled Barolo, but its tannins are holding it back a touch. Drink it over the next 6-8 years."

"The 2019 Barolo Boiolo is a dark, savory wine. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2019 packs plenty of punch. Dark red-toned fruit, gravel, incense, licorice, dried herbs, menthol and earthy notes all build. All this brooding Barolo needs is time. The 2019 is one of the best vintages yet."

"This wine plays its cards close to the chest, with a reserved nose that hints at the depth to come. On the palate, it's chewy and mouthfilling, but still closed, demanding time to fully reveal itself. Dark, brooding fruit aromas, like blackberries, black cherries and ripe plums, are both fresh and warm, intermingling with notes of smashed strawberries and a compelling mix of sweet and savory spices, such as cinnamon, clove and black pepper. Drink 2026– 2040. Cellar Selection. —J.P"
