"The 2021 Barbera d'Alba Affinato in Carati is a silky, polished wine. Sweet tannins wrap around a core of black fruit, mocha, espresso, licorice and lavender. The Affinato in Carati, Scavino's Barbera done in barrique, is not quite as flamboyant as it was in its early days, but it remains an outstanding Barbera with a lot of character."
