"A fantastic vintage of this wine, the ruby-hued 2019 Barbaresco Basarin is spicy and lifted with notes of potpourri, incense smoke, mint, and bright red berries. Medium-bodied, with good lift and balance, it's quite complex and offers lovely balance as well as length. Drink 2024-2037."

"Expressive, this red exudes black cherry, leather, tar and a touch of wild herb aromas and flavors. This has ample flesh to offset the firm structure, and the finish is framed by subtle vanilla and toasty oak. Excellent length. Best from 2026 through 2043. ‡B.S. "

"A saturated ruby/magenta in color, the 2021 Barbaresco Basarin shows off lovely, ripe layers with spiced accents and also has notable oak spice, but it seems a bit less overt here. It's more red-fruited and has a slightly higher-toned profile in its notes of chocolate covered cherries, baking spices, violets, and incense. Medium-bodied, it has good drive and energy to its fresh acidity, and its finely coiled tannins add a plushness to the texture, with a chalkier, slightly more linear feel, although it's still ripe all the way through its long finish. I like this a bit more for drinking now, but it should age gracefully over the coming 10-12 years."
