"The 2019 Burg Le vignoble f,odal is a full-bodied, semi-dry, mineral-rich and powerful wine based on Riesling (50%) and about 13 other grape varieties cultivated in a field blend on colorful Keuper marl with rare interbedded limestone. Although benefitting from its western exposure and sheltered location close to a forest in Bergheim, the grapes ripen rather late here and include botrytis in many years due to the good water-storage capacity of the soil. The 2019 exhibits very fine and elegant but also rich, ripe and concentrated fruit on the nose and intermingles this with a delicate and rather coolish spicy aroma reminiscent of fir bark. Rich, elegant and savory on the palate, this is a dense and complex, stimulating and salty Riesling blend with fine tannins in the firm and sustainable finish. This is a great wine that can be aged for decades. 12% stated alcohol. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024."
