A Santa Barbara-native, Graham Tatomer got his first taste of winemaking as a teenager, helping out at a local winery. It was a taste of Austrian Riesling poured for him at a Santa Barbara restaurant and bottle shop that got him hooked. After working several vintages at Weingut Knoll in Austria’s Wachau region, he returned home to found Tatomer in 2008. Since then, he has garnered a reputation for making some of the best Riesling and Gru?ner Veltliner outside of Germany and Austria. The sites that excite Graham the most have been the coldest ones, lending to his signature style of bone-dry wine with lighter weight, nuanced flavors, and bracing acidity. He also produces fantastic appellation and single vineyard Pinot Noirs from Santa Barbara County.

The Crull family purchased the property in 2001, and began to grow alternative varieties such as Chardonnay, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Franc, and Riesling. They also own a small house on the vineyard for producing Balsamic vinegar. Current production of The Terraces is less than 1,000 cases.

Turley makes 50 separate wines from 50 different vineyards, some with vines dating back to the late 1800s. Often low yielding, these vineyards require extra care and attention in order to reflect their aged glory. All of the vineyards are organic, and only natural yeasts are used.
