La Gran Señora Tequila

La Gran Seora Tequila

La Gran Señora is an elegant line from one of the finest tequila producers in Mexico, Gran Dinastía (formerly known as Casa Camarena), run by the revered Camarena family in the iconic distilling town of Arandas, Jalisco. Gran Dinastía was founded by Augustin Camarena in 1938 and is today led by the family matriarch, Doña Elena. Doña Elena’s influence looms large in all Tequila Supremo’s productions, and La Gran Señora, the family’s premier brand, is named in her honor.

La Gran Seńora tequila is made at Gran Dinastía’s Tequila Supremo fabrica from 100% Blue Weber agave, harvested at maturity after more than six-years growth in the Los Altos region of Jalisco. This highland plateau, around 7,000 feet above sea level, is widely regarded as one of the top agave-producing environments in Mexico by virtue of its iron- and clay-rich red soil, hot days of sun exposure and cooling, breezy nights. The single-estate agave is cooked in a 100-year-old volcanic oven and fermented in open stainless steel tanks before being distilled twice in stainless steel pot stills.

Rare among Jalisco distillers, the Camarena family also prioritizes sustainability. Tequila Supremo was the first tequila fabrica to be recognized as 100% “environmentally friendly,” and has at times achieved net zero carbon impact from production. The distillery continues to emphasize progressive recycling, efficient electrical consumption, and sustainable waste management in all aspects of their production, partnering with the Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo Territoria environmental agency, which certifies companies that align their environmental practices with the initiatives of the state of Jalisco.
