Altamonte
Altamonte is one of Alto Adige’s oldest and smallest cooperative wineries, and one of the best wine producers in the region. And lest you cringe upon hearing the word “coop” in reference to wine production, let’s be very clear here: in Alto Adige, vineyard ownership is so incredibly fragmented that it would be economically impossible for each small grower to produce and bottle their own wines. The resulting need to work together, all members striving for quality over quantity, is what we find at Altamonte.
Their vineyard sites are unique in Alto Adige, with a wide array of soil types and elevations ranging from 220 to 900 meters. All of this dictates the philosophy of the province’s southernmost cooperative: to produce distinctive wines that reflect their origin and their terroir in the best way possible.
