Barolo & Barbaresco: Past & Present

Barolo & Barbaresco: Past & Present
Piedmont producers Chiara Boschis, Elisa Scavino, Silvia Altare, Claudio Fenocchio, and Giorgio Rivetti joined us recently in NYC for a seminar featuring their wines, both past and present!

To both our delight and chagrin, Piedmont is no longer the wine-lovers secret. The Langhe hills are crowded with tourists, and producers grumble that even they can’t get reservations at their favorite osteria. Be it a blessing or a curse, it’s clear that it’s now Nebbiolo’s turn to shine. And how better to celebrate this moment than to take a glance at past glories while surveying the current bounties!

To that end, we invited Chiara Boschis of E Pira, Elisa Scavino of Paolo Scavino, Silvia Altare of Elio Altare, Claudio Fenocchio of Giacomo Fenocchio, and Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta to Skurnik Headquarters for a seminar featuring their wines, both past and present! Each producer shared special, older wines from their personal collections alongside their 2023 releases. The buzz for the upcoming 2019 vintage from Piedmont has been building, and we’re absolutely thrilled to have had this opportunity to explore the wines with you before they reach our shores.

In case you missed the seminar, we have the full recording below, as well as some snapshots from the event.
