Syrah, ‘En Chamberlin’, Cayuse Vineyards
2000 saw the planting of 10 more stony acres. Grafted on phylloxera resistant rootstock, it’s another first for our region.
The most savory, umami-styled, exotic and funky of the lot. Iodine, beef blood, licorice, mushroom and hints of soy and give way to a full-bodied barrel sample that has ample concentration, sweet tannin and a great finish. This is classic Rocks characteristics and is perfumed, complex and downright exotic. It should drink well for 15 years or more. –Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate
