Moscofilero, Domaine Skouras
100% Moscofilero. 25 year old vines from the sub region of Mantinia at 750m elevations, the vines are tended in sandy soils. Up to 53% free run juice, fermented in stainless steel vats. Short skin contact, no malolactic fermentation and short ageing over fine lees.
The color is light whitish yellow. Opulent aromas –light and fresh– of white flowers and honeysuckle are revealed, rounded out with notes of citrus fruits and lime. Medium- to full-bodied, refreshing and vigorous acidity, with the aromas on the mouth following those of the nose. Elegant, balanced and with a long finish

The 2015 Moscofilero is glorious for its flavor and aromatics. Rumors (well, reports) about the lack of maturation in this vintage are noted. It is true that the wines are not on the fatter, riper side. They may tail off faster and not age as well–although, acidity preserves. This was still one of my favorites in this report and it was awfully tasty. Who can argue with these fine aromatics, the fresh feel, the delicious and crisp finish? Sometimes, a little less ripeness and maturity can create a different style that has its own virtues. This is moderately light, but it is intensely flavorful with all that zing and zest on the finish. I liked this a lot. Drink it young and fresh, though.
