Gattinara ‘San Francesco’, Antoniolo
100% Nebbiolo from 55 year old vines planted in morainic and volcanic soils. Maceration on the skins in cement vats for 14-16 days, pumping over with sprinklers, maturation for 1 year in 350-500 litre tonneaux and 18 months in large oak casks (20-25 Hl). Finishing in the bottle for 1 year.

The 2010 Gattinara San Francesco is the most accessible of the estate's three single-vineyard Gattinaras. Another intense, powerful wine, the San Francesco occasionally also show a more tender, welcoming side of its personality. Sweet tobacco, licorice and dried herbs all add nuance to the beautifully textured. There is a level of sweetness and openness to the San Francesco that the other wines don't offer, at least not today.
