Champagne ‘L’Or d’Eugene’, Mousse
Vallee de la Marne
Tasting NotesI’m sure we’ll start referring to this as “Lord Eugene” at some point, we’re such wags. It replaces/updates the old NV (which was called “Noire Reserve); based on 2013 with a perpetual reserve going back to 2003, deg 12/2105, it’s 80% Meunier and 20% PN. The aroma is refined, friendly but not ingratiating; on the palate it’s a superb Blanc de Noirs, diligent, structured, fruity but not gushing, disciplined but not severe. I think and have always thought it’s the ideal for Meunier NV; thoroughly delicious but not an avalanche of chocolate and pumpernickel. —Terry Theise

Press & Reviews
A very pretty and exotic wine, the NV Brut Rose Tradition is impossible not to love. Sweet floral and herbal notes meld into expressive red fruit in this delineated, nuanced, totally captivating Rose. Mousse crafts their Rose from 92% Pinot Meunier and 8% still Pinot, an unusual combination. This release is based on the 2009 vintage, which explains the wine’s radiant, totally inviting personality. All the elements are simply in the right place in this gorgeous, compelling Rose. Disgorgement date: June 12, 2012. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017.
Smoke, candied almond and licorice notes accent the exuberant ripe strawberry, black cherry coulis and whole-grain toast flavors in this well-balanced, juicy version, with a firm, lightly chalky bead. Drink now through 2018. -A.N.
(89% pinot meunier, 6% still pinot noir and 5% saignee pinot meunier; aged for 14 months on its lees and disgorged in March, 2013): Light, bright pink. Fresh red berries and white pepper on the fragrant nose. Sappy and expressive, with zesty acidity giving clarity and lift to the raspberry and blood orange flavors. Finishes fresh and spicy.
