Tasting Notes

One of my personal favorite Champagnes. And this one makes me almost blush with happiness. 50-50 “13-’12, deg 12/2015, the wine is just delicious; delicate, chiseled, refreshing and perfectly balanced. One-third each Avize-Oger-Cramant “with a little part of Oiry.” —Terry Theise

Streamlined and fresh, this balanced version offers a hint of roasted walnut to the subtle notes of dried black cherry, biscuit and spun honey. Drink now. -A.N.

Review:
(100% chardonnay from Cramant, Avize and Oger; disgorged in May, 2013 after aging on its lees for two years): Green-tinged yellow. High-pitched aromas of candied orange, yellow apple, white flowers and ginger. Smoky mineral and white pepper notes add lift and refreshing bitterness to ripe citrus and orchard fruit flavors. The mineral note repeats on the sharply delineated, long finish, which features a subtle anise quality.
