Aglianico del Vulture ‘Macarico’, Macarico
Macarico’s flagship wine is harvested in the first 10 days of November. Maceration-fermentation lasts about 20 days in stainless steel, then the wine goes into oak barriques (20% new, rest 3rd and fourth passage) for 12 months in an underground cellar carved from the tuff soil.
Aglianico del Vulture
Complex and rich in character with aromas of small black berries, licorice, and spice. The palate is powerful and smooth with velvety tannins and a pleasant balsamic note on the finish.

Press & Reviews
The 2012 Aglianico del Vulture Macarico is an extremely mineral-driven wine with delineated layers of pencil shaving, brimstone and graphite. The fruit is dark and brooding, recalling dried blackberry, plum and candied figs. There is little sweetness or softness in the mouth and what exists is immediately overwhelmed by the tannic tightness and firm structure. Like other wines from the Vulture, the finish is driven by dark, ashy tones.
