Aglianico del Vulture ‘Macari’, Macarico
This 100% Aglianico is harvested slightly later than the Rosso, into the second half of October. It undergoes 10 days of maceration-fermentation in stainless steel, then into used French oak barriques for 12 months in an underground cellar carved from the tuff soil.

Elegant aromatics of cherry and ripe plum, accompanied by hints of spices and licorice root. The rich, well-balanced palate has notes of cherry and spice with fresh acidity.

The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Macarì opens to a dark, impenetrable appearance and sheer thickness that is unmatched by its peers in this cool vintage. The bouquet exhibits dark fruit, blackberry preserves, graham cracker, crushed stone, rum cake and licorice. Compared to other Aglianico del Vulture wines from 2013, Macarì presents a unique array of aromas that are rounder and more opulent in presentation. That softness continues to the palate where the wine is extra velvety and supple.
